  OUR STORY

About Our Team

Our team began thinking of ways we could contribute to the planet and we stumbled upon the topic of garbage in the ocean. We discovered that there are companies who are doing their best to clean up the trash that is piling up in our oceans and that a lot of people don't know about the garbage patches or how they get there. Our goal is to inform the public about the Pacific Garbage Patch which is one of the biggest issues regarding trash in the oceans.

Garbage Patch Games is a business that not only informs the public about The Pacific Garbage Patch, but provides classic family gaming that is made from recycled materials collected from the Pacific Ocean as well as other eco-friendly materials.

What is the Pacific Garbage Patch?

The Pacific Garbage Patch is a large section of the Pacific Ocean where plastics and other trash is gathered. The currents of the ocean pick up and move the trash to this location where it piles up and becomes stuck until washed to shore.

Most of this trash comes from North America and Asia and some of it comes from ships passing by. It mainly consists of plastics that block sunlight from the ocean life below. Not only is plastic gathering here, but discarded fishing nets get caught in these patches and end up suffocating the sea life below.

It seems every ocean has begun developing these patches. If you wish to learn more you can visit National Geographic's Great Pacific Garbage Patch page here.
